A UK casino licence suspension does not, by itself, freeze your money. In two of three suspension notices this desk read, the Gambling Commission said the suspension does not prevent the operator letting consumers access their accounts and withdraw funds. Paying you stays the operator’s job; the Commission says it does not deal with individual customer complaints.
So, what happens to my money if a UK casino licence is suspended? The paperwork, read on 14 September 2026:
What the three suspension notices say about your money
| Notice | Date and basis | On your account | What followed |
|---|---|---|---|
| In Touch Games Limited | 1 Sept 2023; section 118(2) suspension, section 116 review | Does not prevent account access and withdrawals | Surrendered 5 Sept 2023 |
| VGC Leeds Limited | 31 Oct 2025; section 116 review | No account sentence; only “treating consumers fairly” | Lifted 25 Nov 2025; surrendered 14 July 2026 |
| BresBet Ltd and Bet St George Ltd | 28 Aug 2026; section 116 review | Does not prevent account access and withdrawals | Both surrendered 4 Sept 2026 |
The account sentence says what the suspension does not bar, not that the operator will pay. The VGC Leeds notice carries none. Both online cases surrendered within a week: In Touch Games after four days, BresBet and Bet St George after seven. Per the Commission’s notices, none of the four holds an operating licence today.
What happens to my account when the operator surrenders?
The Commission’s closure guidance for licensees is the checklist: bets settled and customers contacted before the surrender is actioned, a contact route for unclaimed funds kept open after closure, Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) access maintained.
What does suspended mean on the Gambling Commission register?
Our same-day read of BresBet’s entry showed every row Suspended. As of 14 September 2026 the same rows on account 65252 read Surrendered, with From still 13 Feb 2025, so the register’s From column is not the surrender date. Regulatory actions still show zero; a suspension is not logged there.
Questions readers ask
Can I withdraw my money if a casino’s licence is suspended? In the In Touch Games and BresBet/Bet St George notices, the Commission said the suspension does not prevent the operator allowing consumers to access their accounts and withdraw funds. Request the withdrawal promptly and keep the confirmation; the operator processes it, not the Commission.
How long does a Gambling Commission licence suspension last? The BresBet notice says the suspension remains until the Commission is satisfied the businesses are compliant. The three cases here differed: In Touch Games surrendered after four days, BresBet and Bet St George after seven, and VGC Leeds was lifted after 25 days, then surrendered under eight months later.
What happens to my account if a UK casino closes? Per the Commission’s closure guidance, the operator should settle bets, communicate with customers, keep a contact route for unclaimed funds and maintain access to ADR. A business that cannot pay withdrawals as they fall due is insolvent, and liquidation causes the licence to lapse.
