This page explains how Fresh Spins works: how we assess new UK casino launches, what our scores mean, who writes here, how commercial relationships are disclosed, and how to reach us when we get something wrong.
How we assess a launch
Every new casino we cover is run through the same day-one checklist, in the same order: licence visibility (the Commission named, a licence number stated, and the operator's entry on the UKGC public register matching the site in front of us), safer-gambling tools (deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion, and findability of all three), and payment and verification clarity (methods, timescales, and requirements published rather than promised). We work from documented sources — the register, the operator's published terms, company and regulator announcements — and we say which is which. Claims we cannot verify are attributed (“the operator says”, “per the Commission”) rather than repeated as fact, register checks are dated because registers lag, and we never invent quotes, statistics, test results, or dates. We cover UKGC-licensed operators only.
What our scores mean
Scores run 0–10 and are editorial judgments, not averages of sub-scores. A 7 is a launch (or a tool) that does its job with real trade-offs. An 8 clears our checklist with room to spare. A 9 is rare and means we struggled to find a meaningful fault — and a launch-window score is provisional by nature, because payout behaviour and support quality only show themselves over weeks. A high score is never a recommendation to gamble, no score is for sale, and every review lists genuine cons — if we can't find any, we haven't looked hard enough.
Disclosure
Fresh Spins is a commercially supported publication. Posts that contain affiliate links, and posts that are sponsored, carry a disclosure at the top of the post, and sponsored links are marked as sponsored in the page's code. Sponsors never see, edit, or approve editorial copy, and no score or conclusion can be bought — see the advertising page for what is and isn't for sale.
Bylines
Fresh Spins publishes under house bylines maintained by the editorial team. Reviews run under the editor's byline, Fiona Wexley — a disclosed house pen name, in the tradition of publications that write under a shared editorial identity — and news runs under “Staff, Fresh Spins.” We do not publish fabricated author biographies or invented credentials.
Responsible coverage
This site covers an 18+ subject. We report on launches and the tools for vetting them; we do not coach anyone to gamble, promise returns, or frame gambling as income. Every page carries a responsible-gambling line, and every post includes one in the body of the text, in its own words.
Corrections
If we've published an error — a date, a licence status, a term, anything — we want to know. Reach the editorial desk via the contact page and flag it as a correction. We correct promptly and note material corrections in the post.
