Every online casino licensed in Great Britain must take part in GAMSTOP: the Gambling Commission made it a requirement for all online operators from 31 March 2020. GAMSTOP Online does not cover land-based casinos, betting shops or bingo halls, which run their own schemes, and its block reaches only sites run by GB-licensed businesses.
This is an evergreen explainer, not a news item. So, are all casinos on GAMSTOP? Every GB-licensed online one; nothing else.
Where does the GAMSTOP rule come from?
The Commission announced on 14 January 2020 that all online gambling operators must participate. The same release counted “over 200 online operators”, a 2020 figure, not a current one. The Commission’s own guide page on GAMSTOP adds two clocks: the scheme has run since April 2018, and businesses must update their lists of self-excluded consumers every 24 hours. That page says “all gambling businesses must participate”; its schemes page is the one that ties GAMSTOP Online to websites and apps.
Are land-based casinos on GAMSTOP?
No. Per that schemes page, a land-based casino is covered by SENSE, a betting shop by GAMSTOP Betting Shops, and a bingo hall by BISES. Three venues, three separate registrations.
How do I check a casino is on GAMSTOP?
Two steps. GAMSTOP’s participating-companies list names companies, not casino brands, with only some trading names in brackets.
- Find the company behind the brand on the Commission’s register. Our licence-number walkthrough covers it.
- Find that company on GAMSTOP’s list.
This desk read the list on 8 October 2026. We checked five licensees this site has written about against it:
| Licensee, as GAMSTOP lists it | Brand in brackets | On the list |
|---|---|---|
| Bet Ahoy Limited | none | Yes |
| Betting Gaming (Malta) Limited | betty | Yes |
| Jumpman Gaming Limited | none | Yes |
| Progressplay Limited | none | Yes |
| Skill On Net Limited | none | Yes |
Five for five. Note what the brackets do not do: Bet Ahoy’s entry carries no brand name, so a reader searching for a brand has to know the company first. That is step 1. Our earlier reads of Bet Ahoy, Betty and Jumpman and Skill On Net carry their own register dates. The list spells Betty’s company “Betting Gaming (Malta) Limited”; our August post records the register entry as Betty Gaming (Malta) Limited. We did not re-read the register for this piece, so match on the brand and the register’s account entry rather than the spelling.
The Commission also warns that GAMSTOP matches the details a consumer enters, so changed details can let someone still gamble. Keep them current.
Questions
Which gambling companies does Gamstop Online cover? Per the Commission’s schemes page, GAMSTOP Online stops a registered person using any gambling websites and apps run by businesses licensed in Great Britain. GAMSTOP’s own list names those businesses by company, with only some brands in brackets, so a brand missing from the brackets may still sit under a listed company.
Will Gamstop Online help me avoid bingo halls and other gambling? No. It covers websites and apps only. The Commission lists separate free schemes: GAMSTOP Betting Shops for bookmakers (0800 294 2060), SENSE for licensed land-based casinos, and BISES, run through The Bingo Association, for licensed bingo premises. Each needs its own registration.
Which online casinos are not part of Gamstop? Among online casinos licensed in Great Britain, none should be: the Commission says it has acted against businesses that failed to use the system. Sites without a Great Britain licence sit outside the scheme, and this site does not name or link them. If a brand cannot be traced to a GB licensee, that is your answer.
