The Gambling Commission guidance we read on 17 October 2026 sets no fixed number of days for a UK online casino payout: it says you can withdraw your money “at any time without unreasonable delay or restriction”, and you do not have to take it in instalments. Any clock beyond that comes from the casino’s own terms.
That is the answer this desk found on 17 October 2026, reading three Commission pages and one casino’s published terms. This is an evergreen explainer, not news: the rules below are the Commission’s current guidance as read that day, and none of them is new.
How long does an online casino have to pay out in the UK?
None of the three Commission pages read on 17 October 2026 states a number of days or hours for a withdrawal. The standard is reasonableness. The player page, I can’t withdraw my winnings (last updated 11 June 2021), says a gambling business “should not hold on to your money unnecessarily”. Here is the checklist, row by row.
| Rule | What the Commission says | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Timing | Withdraw at any time, without unreasonable delay or restriction | Player page |
| Instalments | You don’t have to withdraw in instalments | Player page |
| Confiscation | Not allowed for failing to log in or prove ID within a set timeframe | Player page |
| Deposit balance | Withdrawable at any time, even with a bonus pending or active | Licensee guidance |
| Fees | No more than a reasonable estimate of the direct processing cost | Licensee guidance |
| ID checks | Asked before you gamble, not saved up as a withdrawal condition | ID guidance |
| ID timescale | “We cannot provide a timescale for ID checks” | ID guidance |
| Disputes | Complain to the business first; the Commission can’t see accounts | Player page |
The deposit and fee rows come from the Commission’s licensee guidance on withdrawing deposits. It also lets an operator reasonably limit the size or number of withdrawals below the full deposit balance, under a fair and transparent term.
Can verification delay a payout?
It can. The Commission’s age and ID guidance says every online business must ask you to prove your age and identity before you gamble. It cannot make that a condition of withdrawing if it could have asked earlier, unless it can only ask at that point to meet legal obligations.
The same page says a business that delays a withdrawal over insufficient ID “may be in breach of Licence Condition 17”. Electronic checks may be instant; documents may take longer. That is the one stage the Commission pages read openly decline to put a number on.
What an operator’s terms actually promise
To see the other half of the clock, this desk read Admiral Casino’s General Terms and Conditions, Version 17.2, dated 01.04.2026, on 17 October 2026. It is a worked example of reading terms, not a recommendation. The operator named in those terms, Greentube Alderney Limited, shows a Remote Casino licence, 039050-R-319315-020, Active from 1 Nov 2014 on the Commission register, read the same day.
- Clause 5: verification checks must be completed before you withdraw.
- Clause 13.1: deposits and winnings can be withdrawn at any time, provided payments into the account have cleared and have not been charged back.
- Clause 13.2: requests below £10 go through Customer Support only.
- Clause 13.3: money goes back to the deposit method(s) first.
- Clause 13.4: no withdrawal request while the relevant game is being actively played.
Clauses 13.1 to 13.4, as read, give no number of hours or days. Later clauses were not checked, so that is a statement about four clauses, not the whole document. The lesson for any casino, new or old: find the withdrawal clause, note the conditions, and check the operator’s licence number on the register before you deposit.
What to do if an online casino won’t pay out
Start with the casino’s own complaints process; the Commission says it has no access to customers’ accounts. If that does not settle it, the next stop is the casino’s named dispute service, set out in our UK ADR list. If the problem is that the licence itself has gone, read what happens to your money when a licence is suspended.
Questions
Can a UK casino refuse to pay out winnings? It can stop a withdrawal in set cases. The Commission’s player page says you may be stopped if unusual activity has been spotted in your account, but a business should not hold on to your money unnecessarily, and it cannot confiscate it because you did not log in or prove your identity within a certain timeframe.
Why is my casino withdrawal still pending? The pages read name the usual reasons: an unusual-activity check, outstanding verification, or a payment that has not cleared. The Commission says extra checks, such as anti-money laundering ones, should be asked for promptly and not only when you withdraw. The casino’s own terms say how it handles each case, so read the withdrawal clause first.
Who do I complain to if a casino won’t pay me? The casino first. The Commission says it has no access to customers’ accounts and that you should complain directly to the gambling business and follow its complaints process. If that process does not settle it, the next step is the ADR provider the casino names, not the Commission.
